E q u i p m e n t Proxo Planer, the all-round universal interdental instrument Proximal surfaces are difficult to finish and polish because they can oniy be accessed indirectly. Rotating Instruments ideally and selectively reduce overhangs on concave proximal surfaces under direct vision. Two forms of contouring and finishing diamonds are well-suited for such clinical situations, namely the Amalgashape Set and Composhape Set for amalgams and composites, respectively. These diamonds eliminate the unintentional formation of wave-like indentations when they are used with controlied, weil supported paintbrush-like movements under direct vision with adequate water spray. Proxoshape files in EVA handpleces mechanically move up and down in the bucco-Iingual direction, making broad contact with flat or convex proximal surfaces. The files are flexible and coated with fine-grained diamond particies which ensure an easy and non-destructive handling. Instructions for use of the Proxo Planer
The Proxo Planer's tension can be set low or high by using the inner or outer pair of grooves, respectively. The lower tension yields a broad contact area while the higher tension yields a smaller contact surface. Contour the proximal surface by removing the Proxo Planer sideways in a bucco-lingual direction. Avoid traumatizing the marginal gingiva by pulling the Proxo Planer mesially along the distal proximal surfaces and pushing them distally along the mesial proximal surfaces. Have the chairside assistant spray water onto the Proxo Planer while in use, to prevent the spaces between the, diamond particies from clogging up, thus maintaining the Proxo Planer's abrasiveness. Proxo Planer enabie a simple and effective mechanical finishing of proximal surfaces. They are diamond-coated, ultra thin and flexible. The diamond grains are ideally suited to remove overhangs and to recontour and finish proximal surfaces. Using the special tweezers, the Proxo Planer is manually guided through the interdental space in a bucco-lingual direction. The area of the proximal surface contacting the Planer varies from small to large by changing the tension of the Proxo Planer. Set of Instruments and their indication:
