ORTHO-STRIPS SYSTEM

Ortho-Strips in combination with the EVA-head 61LR PREPCONTROL : Stripholder for interdental reduction of tooth-size in orthodontics

Problem

Tooth-size should be reduced in a timesaving procedure which allows a physiological postoperative morphology and subsequent polishing of the enamel surface. Opening of the interproximal space is difficult if hand-hold strips or rotating discs are used. The enamel surface should not be grooved or scratched as in the case when tungsten carbide- or diamond-burs are used for this task. With the Ortho-Strips System 60 s working time with each grain is sufficent to achieve an optimal surface. To achieve the same surface-quality with hand-held strips, it would take a strip of 40 m length for each grain.

Clinical use:

1. Opening of the interdental space

With the saw-strip (90um) the interdental contact is reduced.

Because only the lower part of the strip is diamond-coated, unnecessary loss of substance in the former contact area or wedging of the strip is avoided.

2. Contouring and polishing of the enamel

The flexibility of the Ortho-Strips allows optimal contouring in all dimensions. Because both sides of the Ortho-Strips are coated, machining of both adjacent teeth is possible without change of instruments.
