E q u i p m e n t Microfine Composite Finishing Diamonds This set of burs was assembled in collaboration with: University of Zurich
Indications The finishing of composite fillings. The set is designed for microfiller composites but is equally well adapted for all other composites (CSG + CSR). Finishing of sealed fissures and preventive resin restorations, especially when filled sealer or dilluted composites are being used (CSG + CSR) Finishing of enamel margins in adhesive cavity preparations in the adhesive technique (CSR) Contouring Contouring gives the restoration its final shape as determined by function and esthetics. CSG are instruments especially suited for contouring, with the ability to remove large amounts of filling material and yet safe and non-destructive to the enamel. Finishing Finishing refines the form attained during contouring and smoothes the restoration. During finishing, the abrasiveness of the instruments used is no longer of primary importance; most important is the preservation of restorative material and enamel and the creation of smooth surfaces. Instructions Use without applying pressure and with a "wiping" motion keeping the diamond in constant motion. The medium speed range ( 6'000 - 40'000 rpm ) should be used, i.e. the lowest speed setting ( 12'000 - 30'000 rpm ) on the contra-angle marked with a red ring. A high-speed air turbine is contra-indicated. The diamonds must always be used with a generous water spray. CSR should not be used on metal ( gold, steel, amalgam). Exclusive by Intensiv It is the only instrument set that can be used to safely finish microfiller composites. The finish produced on enamel and composite surfaces is as smooth as that obtained with conventional finishing instruments and is ideally suited for polishing. The instruments are distinctly better adapted to the materials. Enamel- and filling margin fractures are significantly reduced; the proportion of "perfect margins" is, with the identical filling technique, significantly greater. Clinical situations in which the differently shaped finishing diamonds may be used to finish tooth-colored restorations.
