Specially for Cerec restorations

The 8 color-coded Cerec Set diamonds ( uncolored 106um, yellow 40um, white 25um, orange 8um ) enable a precise and tooth-friendly cavity preparation in keeping with the Cerec ideals. The preparation and fine diamonds are designed for inlay, overlay and veneer preparations. They are also used for contouring and finishing of the occlusal ceramic surfaces.

Specific shape selection

The Cerec preparation does not require occlusally divergent cavity walls thus preserving maximum amounts of sound dentin and enamel. Simple cylindrical shaped diamonds with rounded tips can be used. The enamel cavity margins are finished with low-trauma fine diamonds producing precise edges.

Approximal box preparation

Proximal boxes are prepared using tapered finishing diamonds. The proximal wall angles and the cervical floor can be precisely prepared using the larger finishing diamond while the veneer diamond provides a good compromise between cutting speed and precision when preparing the enamel.

Occlusal contouring

The occlusal ceramic surface is most effectively contoured using the contouring, finishing and polishing diamonds. These well-balanced diamonds simplify occlusal contouring and finishing and minimize damaging the adjacent enamel (fig. 4).

Conservative preparation

The restorations of primary carious lesions can be kept very conservative using the Cerec method. Parallel cavity wall preparations ensure minimal loss of sound dentin and enamel. The 25um diamonds produce precise cavosurface angles at the occlusal, lateral and gingivial margins which are a prerequisite for the exact optical impression. The diamonds also provide optimum occlusal contouring and finishing of the occlusal ceramic surfaces.
